Sycamore ranked 293th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The City of Sycamore had the 293th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 99 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Sycamore was $32.22 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the DeKalb Times, Sycamore generated $570,749.50 in net sales from its 19 lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $415,442.50 in January 2015.

The City of Sycamore is in DeKalb County, and has a population of 17,712, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are DeKalb.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $27,129.57.

Sycamore's top lottery retailer is Hy Vee Food Store #1642 located at 2700 Dekalb Ave, Sycamore, IL 60178.

Hy Vee Food Store #1642 generated 13 percent of Sycamore's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 4 percent of DeKalb County's sales that month, which was $1,980,459.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DeKalb County in 2015 were Shabbona, Somonauk, Kirkland, Sandwich and Sycamore.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
