There were two gas stations in cities across DeKalb County selling diesel at the lowest price of $3.99 per gallon in the week ending May 18, according to GasBuddy.com.
Of the six gas stations in cities within DeKalb County, two offer diesel.
The average price of diesel in Illinois was $3.95, compared to $3.99 the week before.
Experts predict gasoline prices could drop below $3 this year before rebounding closer to $4 by year’s end. GasBuddy forecasted a national average of $3.38 per gallon, down from $3.51. An outlook published in late 2023 suggests that gas rates will continue to fall in 2024.
