DeKalb Community Unit School District 428 had the highest enrollment among DeKalb County districts, welcoming 6,664 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were boys, 48.9% were girls, and 0.1% identified themselves as non-binary or did not specify their gender.
