DeKalb Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 13
Hey Huskie fans! Lace up your sneakers because NINE runners (the top three finishing students, women, and men) will each receive:
-Two (2) tickets to NIU’s first home football game of the season, the day following the race, September 11, 2021
-A VIP tailgate package with complimentary food and beverage
-Field access pre-game
-Winners will receive their race award on the field during the game! How cool is that?!
-THE TOP THREE in each category also receive:
Best Time: $100
Second Best Time: $50
Third Best Time: $30
The 5K race will be held immediately following the opening NIU Cross Country meet at The North 40, which is the official NIU Cross Country course located just north of Barsema Hall. Parking will be a breeze. Celebrate the launch of the NIU Cross Country and Football seasons. A fan fest with food and beverages, and tons more will follow the 5K right there at The North 40. Your registration includes a race T-shirt and more! Come, build a tradition with us and cheer on your Huskies! Proceeds support NIU Cross Country.
