Speaking on the House floor, Representative Jeff Keicher expressed his concerns about the misuse of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts during a debate on legislation aimed at extending several TIF districts. Keicher emphasized that such practices are detrimental to taxpayers.

Throughout his tenure in the Illinois House of Representatives, Keicher has been vocal in criticizing the current application of TIFs. He has actively sought to address these issues by proposing reforms. Recently, he introduced two bills in the 103rd General Assembly: House Bill 3312, which proposes limiting TIF extensions, and House Bill 4995, advocating for a voter referendum requirement to initiate a TIF.
