Senator Sue Rezin is bringing a mobile Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) unit to the Sandwich Public Library on August 8. “RSVPs are required, so call my staff members Nico or Owen at 815-220-8720 to reserve a spot!” she stated in a July 29 Facebook post.
“I am happy to share that I am teaming up with the Illinois Secretary of State to host a MOBILE DMV on Thursday, Aug 8th, from 10-2 PM at the Sandwich Public Library,” said Rezin, State Senator, according to Facebook. “RSVPs are required, so call my staff members Nico or Owen at 815-220-8720 to reserve a spot!”
The mobile DMV event is scheduled for August 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sandwich Public Library, located at 925 S. Main Street in Sandwich. According to Rezin’s July 29 Facebook post, the event will include various services such as Real ID renewal or issuance; renewal, replacement, or correction of driver’s licenses and state identification cards; license plate renewals; organ and tissue donation registration with license or ID application; and motor vehicle registration with license or identification card application. Registration is required by calling 815-220-8720.
According to the Illinois Secretary of State (SOS) website, individuals who do not have a U.S. passport, do not visit military bases, or do not use airplanes for domestic transportation do not need a Real ID. Those who lack a passport or passport card but fly, visit military bases, or secure federal facilities must obtain a Real ID. All driver services facilities are issuing Real ID cards.
Starting May 7, 2025, the Transportation Safety Administration will require either a Real ID or a valid passport for air travel. The new deadline for the Real ID program was announced on May 1. The program itself was created in 2005 but has been delayed over the years due to backlogs at DMV facilities, according to MyStateline.com. The Real ID Act was passed in response to the September 11 attacks.
Rezin was appointed to the State Senate in December 2010 and has continuously served the people of the 38th Senate District. In 2021, she was selected as Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate Republican Caucus. In 2015, she collaborated with local employers to establish an Operations Engineering and Technician technical program at Joliet Junior College. She holds a degree in International Business and Political Science from Augustana College and has co-owned and managed her family’s real estate company, according to her official biography.
