Sycamore republican Jeff Keicher, running for the seat being vacated by Rep. Robert Pritchard (R-Hinckley) in the 70th District, was warmly embraced during a recent stop at the Heritage Day Parade.
“Thank you to all those who had kind words of support for me,” Keicher posted on Facebook. “And thank you to Rep. Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) for being a strong leader with solid insight, I look forward to being a peer.”
Keicher also took time out to thank Jason Helland, the GOP candidate for secretary of state, for “making the trip north.”

In addition to all the strong support, Keicher indicated he loved the look of things.
“One of the most unique ideas I’ve seen in a festival, that also embraces creativity, is the painting of the street downtown,” he added. “There’s definitely some creative souls borne on the pavement.”
Keicher is also slated to be on hand for the Sandwich Park District Parade to kick off Independence Day weekend on June 30.
The candidate, who has made the issues of outmigration and tax reform staples of his campaign, recently took the Supreme Court to task over its decision not to conclusively put an end to political gerrymandering.
“I’m disappointed that SCOTUS didn’t take an opportunity to help end political gerrymandering, but understand that the standing for the suits were an issue,” Keicher recently posted on Facebook. “We certainly don’t have a system where we should legislate from the bench.”
The high court’s ruling dates back to cases first brought before the courts more than three decades ago, with the Supreme Court acknowledging that partisan districting could cross a line.
