Republican state House candidate Jeff Keicher said the Praire State's property taxes are a priority topic.

“Illinois has some of the highest property taxes in the nation,” Keicher told the DeKalb Times. “I'm a small business owner running for office for the first time, because I've seen the negative impact of higher taxes and overregulation on families, small businesses and farmers.”

High taxes, especially property taxes, are the No. 1 reason Illinois residents are leaving, according to Keicher, who is running in the 70th District to fill a seat vacated by Bob Pritchard, who left the legislature on July 1 to join the Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees.

“We need to foster an environment where our local businesses are creating good, high-paying jobs and stop the outmigration of our families,” Keicher said.
