State Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) recently felt right at home interacting with the Hampshire High School band and would-be constituents.

"What an honor to be walking in front of your high school band,” Keicher posted on Facebook. "Thank you, Hampshire, for being an amazing place for a parade.”

Keicher was recently sworn in to serve out the remaining term of former state Rep. Bob Pritchard (R-Hinckley) in the 70th District. He is now running against Democrat Paul Stoddard for a full term.

He was joined at the campaign event by fellow Republican House candidate Dan Ugaste, Senate candidate Dan DeWitt and judicial candidate Tom Hartwell.

“Most important, thank you to my volunteers,” he said. “Your support and encouragement truly makes this journey more meaningful.”

In a separate post, Keicher encouraged followers to make the time to watch Kelly Richmond Pope’s “All the Queen's Horses," documentary on Netflix.

The film tells the story of how former Dixon comptroller Rita Crundwell stole $53 million from the city over two decades to build one of the nation's largest quarter horse breeding empires.

“If you have the opportunity, please take time to watch this film on Netflix,” Keicher wrote in his second post. “You'll become sick and angry in parts.”

A State Farm insurance agent by trade, Keicher has based his campaign on a vow to always put the community first.

House District 70 includes Boone, DeKalb and Kane counties.
