Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) recently took to social media to honor his heritage and support from a family business.
Keicher revealed on Facebook that his great-grandfather emigrated from Sweden to the U.S., where he launched a construction firm, Carl E. Soderquist & Sons.
“I'm proud to say that legacy can be seen throughout our area, in both buildings and bridges,” Keicher wrote on Facebook. “His sons took over the company when Carl Soderquist passed away and it became ‘Soderquist Brothers.’ It is a rich and proud legacy of perseverance and the American Dream rooted in Swedish family traditions.”

In a previous Facebook post, Keicher thanked Illinois credit unions for supporting his campaign.
“I am a believer in the opportunity of people working together to make our world a better place,” he wrote. “In addition to working with banks, I have been a member of a credit union for 20-plus years. Credit unions are financial organizations owned and operated by their members working together to serve their communities.”
Keicher was appointed to the District 70 House seat in July and faces Democrat Paul Stoddard and Libertarian John Eldon Mathey in the November election.
The 70th district includes Belvidere, DeKalb, Elgin, Genoa and Sycamore.
