Voters in DeKalb County said “no” to two out of three referendums on the Nov. 6 ballot.
The county voted against the Squaw Grove TWP Unincorporated Electric Aggregation Referendum, which asked: “Shall the Township of Squaw Grove have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such program?”
With 100 percent of the votes counted, 160 were in favor and 169 opposed the referendum.
Voters in DeKalb County also did not approve the Hampshire Fire Protection District New Tax Rate Referendum, which would have authorized a new tax for emergency and rescue purposes and have an additional tax of .10% of the equalized assessed value of the taxable property therein extended for such purposes.
With 100 percent of the votes counted, 17 were in favor and 28 opposed the referendum.
Voters in DeKalb County approved the deactivation of Paw Paw High School CUSD 271.
It called to deactivate the Paw Paw High School facility and to send pupils in Paw Paw High School to Indian Creek Community Unit School District No. 425.
With 100 percent of the votes counted,12 were in favor and 4 opposed the measure.
