De Kalb Daily Chronicle issued the following announcement on April 6.

DeKALB — Redshirt sophomore defensive end Michael Kennedy was one of the unknowns heading into Saturday's open scrimmage, but has taken the necessary repetitions to feel comfortable on defense.

“I feel like as the days go on, I’m starting to get better and better with the defense," Kennedy said. "Since it’s new, it was hard at first, but it’s starting to come normal.”

The defensive line owned the scrimmage, with Weston Kramer and Jack Heflin barrelling their way through the offensive line, causing the Huskie quarterbacks to scramble repeatedly.

A more beefy looking Matt Lorbeck lined up opposite of Kennedy on the defensive line, and found his way into the backfield and caused hurries on several occasions.

Kennedy, who has put on 10 pounds through drinking milkshakes and eating consistently eating big meals, has bulked up to 225 pounds on his 6-foot, 1-inch frame.

He still seems himself as a rusher who can use his speed to be disruptive.
