Kinder Hospital-Sycamore issued the following announcement on June 11.
Bob underwent scheduled surgery to repair a major heart artery, but unfortunately developed complications that required him to be placed on a ventilator. Prolonged bed rest caused a pressure wound as well, so when he was transferred to Kindred Hospital Peoria, the multidisciplinary team was ready to jump into action. With his wife, Janice, always on his mind, Bob made steady progress and gained the strength he needed to be taken off the ventilator and then get onto his feet.
“I’ve been through hell and back,” Bob said before being discharged to return home with Janice, “but my team of medical professionals really know what they are doing. I had some challenges, and some were scary, but they helped me understand and get through them. I couldn’t even throw a ball when we started, and now I’m up and walking!”
