Koolidge for Congress issued the following press release:

Yesterday morning, Mike Koolidge was among the first candidates in the state to file his petitions to be on the ballot to serve and represent the people of Illinois’ new 14th Congressional District. Koolidge and his campaign gathered nearly 1,200 signatures from all 7 counties, almost tripling the amount of signatures needed, further demonstrating his frontrunner status in the June 28th Republican Primary.

Koolidge: “While collecting petition signatures from Will, Bureau, LaSalle, Kendall, Southern Kane, DeKalb and even Putnam County (the smallest in the state), I’ve talked with thousands of voters who are tired of Lauren Underwood’s rubber-stamping of the Biden Administrations completely out-of-touch policies.”

Koolidge says Democrats like Underwood present themselves as commonsense pragmatists when in front of constituents, but consistently cave to left-wing interest groups when campaign checks are on the line. According to Koolidge, voters in the new 14th see through the charade. “Unlike the incumbent, I’m not interested in playing old partisan games, I’m focused on kitchen table issues like fighting inflation, lowering gas prices, and cutting taxes for working families. The new congress elected next year—which I plan to be a member of as part of the Republican majority—will focus on reining in federal spending, empowering individuals by limiting government overreach, and keeping our families safe from rising crime,” Koolidge said. “In fact with equal parts rural, suburban and urban, there are few districts in America as representative of the country as the new Illinois 14.”

As Democrats clumsily push divisive and fiscally irresponsible agendas instead of addressing issues that affect everyday Americans like inflation and gas prices, Koolidge’s message is resonating with voters who are eager for change in Washington. The road to Republicans retaking the House and firing Nancy Pelosi as Speaker runs through this pivotal district.
