Now that Illinois' spring legislative session has come to a close, Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) wants to hear from his constituents and get their thoughts about what took place in Springfield.

Syverson announced three opportunities for people to voice their opinions at upcoming "Coffee & Conversation" events in Big Rock, Hampshire and Maple Park.

"We schedule Coffee & Conversation events to give area residents an opportunity to talk with their state and local leaders about what is happening in Springfield and how it affects their communities," he said in a Facebook post this week. "The work of the spring legislative session included many decisions and changes, some of which were controversial. We would like to know what you think about these issues and look forward to seeing you at one of these upcoming events."

The events are set to take place at the Big Rock Café in Big Rock on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.; the Hampshire legislative office for Syverson and Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-DeKalb) on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; and Maple Park Village Hall on Friday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

The Coffee & Conversation events are free of charge and open to the public, a press release from the senator's office said this week. Anyone who would like to get more information on the upcoming meetings is encouraged to call (815) 987-7555.

Syverson has stayed busy the past few months.

One notable issue centered around daylight saving time, in which he felt it was time to "lock the clock" and end the time change; he said on Facebook, quoted in a recent Rockford Sun release. He called on Congress to pass legislation.
