The Illinois Chamber of Commerce has named State Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) a "Champion of Free Enterprise," according to the senator's newsletter.
“Senator Syverson has been a trusted leader in the Senate, and as business owner himself, brings expertise that has been invaluable in representing the concerns of both business and taxpayers,” Illinois Chamber President and CEO Todd Maisch said in a statement.
The award is given to a legislator who has "shown leadership in supporting legislation and ideas designed to strengthen Illinois’ jobs climate," Syverson said.
This isn't the first time Syverson has received this honor. He was also named a Champion of Free Enterprise in 2020, a news release said.
"It is an honor to know my efforts on behalf of the job creators in northern Illinois have been rated so highly by the Illinois Chamber," Syverson said in a June 17 news release.
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce is a private nonprofit organization supported by member dues, contributions from a diverse group of primarily Illinois-based businesses and revenue generated by offering HR compliance educational seminars and materials.
It is "the largest business voice in Illinois representing a variety of businesses from small entrepreneurs to large international companies located in every community in Illinois," Syverson said in the news release.
