According to a The City of DeKalb's Facebook page, the city council Monday unanimously approved plans for a distribution, packaging and storage facility on 160 acres of property on the north side of Gurler Road between Crego Road and Peace Road.

The development is known as Project Wildcat.

“ChicagoWest is proud to have put over 1,000 acres into development since 2019 in the Chicago West Business Center,” Jerry Krusinski, CEO of Krusinski Construction Company and one of the principals of the ChicagoWest Business Center, said in the press release posted on Facebook.

“The 2019 House Republican economic incentive compromise included in the budget has been the match that ignited the start of the change Illinois needed to bring in jobs and opportunity,” Rep. Jeff Kiecher (R-Sycamore) wrote on Facebook. Keicher shared a link to Shaw Local about the project.

“This project represents another very substantial contribution to the City’s property tax base and employment opportunities,” City Manager Bill Nicklas said, according to WIFR. “The ChicagoWest and Trammell Crow development team have once again collaboratively negotiated impactful terms which will positively serve the best interests of the DeKalb community for generations to come.”

The building is expected to be in operation in 2025.

Keicher was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018. His legislative experience includes serving on the Appropriations-Higher Education and Immigration & Human Rights committees. Keicher resides in DeKalb.
