DeKalb County Law & Justice Committee met Sept.14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Law and Justice Committee of the DeKalb County Board met in Special Session in the Legislative Center’s Freedom Room in Sycamore, Illinois. Madam Chair Dianne Leifheit called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Those members present were Ms. Mary Cozad, Mrs. Karen Cribben, Mrs. Kathy Lampkins, Mr. Ellingsworth Webb, Ms. Suzanne Willis, and Chair Dianne Leifheit. Mr. Larry West was absent. A quorum was established with six Members present and one absent.

Others present included Brian Gregory and Liam Sullivan.

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved by Mrs. Lampkins, seconded by Mr. Webb and it was carried unanimously by voice vote to approve the agenda as presented.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

There were no public comments.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING SHERIFF’S OFFICE JOB RECLASSIFICATIONS

County Administrator Brian Gregory explained that though Collective Bargaining Agreement between DeKalb County Elected Officials and AFSCME established a job audit committee to review certain job classifications.

This Committee consisted of two AFSCME representatives, the Sheriff, and the County Administrator. They met and recommended re-classifications of various administrative positions within his Office. According to the Agreements, the County Board would be the Governing Body to approve these reclassifications.

The reclassifications that were presented were as follows:

∙ Civil Process Clerk/Administrative Secretary: Reclassified from Administrative Secretary to Administrative Assistant.

∙ Civil Process Clerk/Secretary B: Reclassified from Secretary B to Administrative Secretary.

∙ Body Worn Camera Evidence Technician: Reclassified from Administrative Secretary to Body Worn Evidence Technician/Engineering Technician III.

∙ Executive Assistant to Jail Administration: Reclassified from Administrative Secretary to Office Coordinator.

∙ Police Records Clerk: Reclassified from Secretary B to Police Records Clerk/Administrative Secretary.

∙ Police Records Specialist/FOIA Officer: Reclassified from Secretary B to Administrative Assistant.

Mr. Gregory also clarified that there are contingency funds built into the budget to cover the slight increased salaries for the individuals.

It was moved by Mrs. Lampkins, seconded by Ms. Willis and approved unanimously to forward the Resolution to the full County Board recommending its approval.

ADJOURNMENT

It was moved by Mrs. Lampkins, seconded by Mrs. Cribben, and it was carried unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 6:52 p.m.
