In a Jan. 11 Facebook post, outgoing state Rep. Tom Demmer congratulated Reps. Tony McCombie (R-Sterling) and Brad Frits (R-Dixon) after they were sworn in to the House of Representatives.
“Congratulations and welcome to Rep. Tony McCombie and Rep. Brad Fritts who were sworn in today for the new term," Demmer wrote on Facebook. "Today marks the end of my term and it also brings new legislative district maps. For those who have been in my legislative district for the past 10 years, the maps have changed and you may be represented by either Rep. Tony McCombie (mccombie@ilhousegop.org) or Rep. Brad Fritts (fritts@ilhousegop.org). I wish them the very best in the term ahead. And I know you all will be well served by these two dedicated public servants.”
Ballotpedia noted Fritts and McCombie ran uncontested during the November election.
Demmer had been a state representative for the 90th District in the Illinois House of Representatives. In the previous session, he was the Deputy House Republican Leader and served on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR). Demmer served on several healthcare and education committees.
Demmer ran for State Treasurer in the 2022 primary election. He ran against the incumbent Michael Frerichs. Demmer receieved 1,744,391 votes, or 44%, to Frerichs' 2,134,658 votes, or 53.8%..
On Nov. 8 at 7:43 p.m., Demmer conceded the race to Frerichs in a Tweet: "While our campaign has come up short, our movement has just begun. I congratulate @MikeForIllinois on a hard fought campaign and I wish him the best in his next term."
