In a Jan. 24 Facebook post, Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) urged his constituents to join in the Valentines for Seniors card drive.

“It’s time for our annual Valentines for Seniors Card Drive! Get the whole family together and help me spread cheer and good will to the residents of local long-term care facilities!" Syverson said. "Donations can be dropped off at, or sent to, my district offices in Hampshire and Rockford until Feb. 7. Once your cards have been collected, we will deliver them to residents of long-term care facilities in communities across the 35th District. Thank you for participating in this heart-warming community project!”

In a Jan. 19 news release, Syverson announced that he and Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) are accepting Valentine cards for residents of care facilities in their district through Feb. 7. Cards can be sent to Syverson's Rockford office, 200 S. Wyman, Suite 302, Rockford, IL 61101 or to Syverson and Rep, Jeff Keicher's joint office in Hampshire, 115 West Oak Knoll Route 72, Hampshire, IL 60140,

It is the third annual card drive for Syverson and Keicher.

“For the third year in a row, we are asking the community to take part in this heart-warming project. Our Valentines for Seniors Card Drive provides Valentine’s Day wishes to residents of nursing homes, rehab, and long-term care facilities,” Syverson said. “We have seen how meaningful these Valentine’s wishes are to the residents of long-term care facilities, who have been more isolated in recent years because of ongoing public health concerns.”

For more information on the card drive, individuals can contact Syverson's office by calling 815-987-7555. This is also the number to call for individuals or community groups who are interested in making cards and having them picked up.
