In a Jan. 31 Facebook post, Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) gave a local school kudos for its Valentine card donation for the Valentines for Seniors program.
“Shout Out and Thanks to the students at Martin Elementary in Lake in the Hills and Principal Michele Happold for participating in our Valentines for Seniors program,” he wrote on Facebook. “They had students create special cards for seniors. #valentinesforseniors”
Syverson announced the annual Valentine's For Seniors program on Jan. 19, and said that both he and Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) would be accepting donations of Valentine cards for seniors and those living in the state's long-term care facilities. The duo will accept cards at their offices through Feb. 7.
The cards are already pouring into Syverson's office, based on his most recent Facebook posts. On Jan. 30 he posted an image of cards with this message: "Valentines for Seniors are starting to arrive! Thank you 35th District! Keep ‘em coming!"
Valentine’s Day cards will be accepted through Feb. 7. Drop cards or mail them to 200 S. Wyman, Suite 302, Rockford, IL 61101 (815-987-7555); 158 W.
