State Representative Jeff Keicher's efforts to tackle the issue of trash blowing off waste-hauling trucks have taken a significant step forward as his proposed legislation, House Bill 4848, has passed through its House committee with unanimous approval. The bill is now set to be considered by the full Illinois House of Representatives.

Keicher, expressing his frustration with the ongoing problem, highlighted the safety and environmental concerns associated with trash blowing off waste trucks, particularly its impact on local farmers. He emphasized that the proposed House Bill 4848 aims to strengthen regulations on waste hauling trucks to address the issue effectively.

DeKalb County Sheriff Andy Sullivan echoed the concerns raised by Keicher, emphasizing the detrimental impact of trash blowing off garbage haulers on farmers and the environment. Sullivan acknowledged the need for policy changes to combat the problem effectively and commended Keicher's efforts in addressing the issue.

Similarly, Dale Pitstick, Vice President of the Kane County Farm Bureau, shared his distress over the daily occurrence of trash flying off waste trucks near his fields. Pitstick emphasized the environmental damage caused by the litter and the additional resources farmers must invest in cleaning up the debris and protecting their equipment.

With the unanimous approval of House Bill 4848 in the committee, Keicher is optimistic about the legislation receiving strong support in the full House. The bill's provisions include stricter fines for violations related to securing waste hauling truck loads and holding companies accountable for ensuring compliance.

Representing the 70th District, which encompasses parts of DeKalb, Kane, and McHenry Counties, Keicher's dedication to addressing the roadside trash problem reflects his commitment to improving the safety and environmental quality of communities.
