Today at the Illinois Capitol, State Representative Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) and State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) joined AARP Illinois for a bipartisan press conference to call for an end to Illinois’ status as the only state to mandate extra driving tests for those 75 and over, regardless of driving record or ability. House Bill 4431, filed in the House of Representatives by Keicher, would end this practice.

"We are here today to call attention to the need for Illinois to join the rest of the nation in eliminating this outdated requirement," expressed State Representative Jeff Keicher.

Senator Don DeWitte added, "Illinois is the only state in the nation that requires an additional driving test for seniors solely based on their age."

AARP Illinois also voiced their support for the change, stating, "It is time for Illinois to join the other 49 states and treat our seniors with the respect and dignity they have earned."
