a. Resolution R2024-069—A Resolution Approving the Annual Renewal of CrowdStrike Antivirus Software from GovConnection, Inc. of Merrimack, NH in the Amount of $50,374.15.

CrowdStrike Antivirus Software was initially implemented in June 2022 and is currently due for annual renewal. CrowdStrike continuously watches for malicious threats and suspicious activity, and remedies any threats to the County’s computer network. The County is required to utilize an antivirus software that contains Endpoint Detection Response tools (EDR) for the County Clerk per Illinois Public Act 102-0015, which pertains to requirements specific to election authorities. EDR tools are the component of antivirus software that provides the County with continuous monitoring and remediation for the network. Having EDR tools available are a great benefit to the security of the network overall, not only the County Clerk. After researching several options, CrowdStrike Antivirus Software was identified by the Information Management Office as the antivirus software that best suits the overall needs of the County. CrowdStrike has the required EDR tools, has proven to provide consistent protection to the County’s network, and continues to provide the best value to the County.

b. Resolution R2024-070—A Resolution Authorizing the Procurement of Mobile Computers for Use by the County Board.

At the February 6th Facilities & Technology Committee, Staff was directed to prepare quotes for the procurement of either ChromeBook Laptops or iPad Tablets, as well as a charging station. The devices are intended to be used in place of printed meeting materials during County Board and Committee Meetings in order to save staff time, printing expenditures, and make the materials more accessible for Board Members.

On April 2nd, the Committee discussed the benefits and drawbacks of allowing these devices to be taken home. After further internal discussion, staff is recommending that the devices remain on-site to ensure that they are available, fully charged and maintained properly.

The Facilities & Technology Committee is being asked to make a recommendation to the County Board as to which type of device (ChromeBooks Laptops or iPad Tablets) to move forward with. The expenditure would come from line item 1111-1290-69900 in the Non-Departmental Budget of the General Fund.
