DeKalb County Forest Preserve District Board met Aug. 21.

Any member of the public may address the Forest Preserve District Board for up to 3 minutes on any topic of their choosing. There will be no yielding of time to other members of the public and agenda time for public comments is limited to 30 minutes in total.

6. Resolutions

a. Resolution FP-R2024-008—A Resolution Approving the Acquisition of Property in Kingston Township for the Genoa to Kingston Trail (G2K Trail) in the Amount of $19,350.

Resolution FP-R2024-008 approves the acquisition of 1.29 acres of land in Kingston Township from Douglas Adkins to extend the Genoa to Kingston (G2K) trail corridor towards the Village of Kingston. The land acquisition extends the trial corridor section from Carroll Park in Genoa west along the Kishwaukee River through the Genoa Prairie, Russell Woods, the South Branch and the Hoppe Heritage Farmstead to Pleasant Hill Road, then to Hunter Road, and west to into the Village of Kingston. The total cost is $19,350.00 or $15,000 per acre. Final acreage has been determined by a survey.

Following the Forest Preserve Operations Committee Meeting, the seller has requested additional compensation for the property, which would bring the total purchase price to $20,000. Staff is recommending that the Resolution be amended to include the requested purchase price.

Committee Action: The Forest Preserve Operations Committee considered Resolution FP R2024-008 on July 25th and forwarded the Resolution to the Forest Preserve District Board with a favorable recommendation by voice vote, with all votes cast in the affirmative.

b. Resolution FP-R2024-010—A Resolution Approving the Payment of Forest Preserve Claims for July 2024, and Off-Cycle Claims Paid During the Previous Month, Including All Claims for Travel, Meals, and Lodging, in the Amount of $130,343.21.

c. Resolution FP-R2024-011—A Resolution Approving the Payment of Forest Preserve Claims for August 2024, and Off-Cycle Claims Paid During the Previous Month, Including All Claims for Travel, Meals, and Lodging, in the Amount of $158,467.21.

7. Reports of Forest Preserve Officials: Move to accept and place on file the following Reports of Forest Preserve Officials.
