DeKalb County Public Building Commission met Sept. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the DeKalb County Public Building Commission (hereinafter “Commission”) was held Tuesday, September 10th 2024, at 8:30 a.m. in the Legislative Center’s Gathertorium in Sycamore, Illinois pursuant to written notice to each Commissioner as required by the By Laws.

ROLL CALL

Chair Swanson called the meeting to order at 8:29 a.m. and requested the Secretary to call the roll. Those Commissioners present were Kevin Bunge, Cheryl Nicholson, Chuck Shepard and Ellingsworth Webb. A quorum was established with five Commissioners present, none absent.

Others present included: Interim County Administrator Derek Hiland, Facilities Management Director Jim Scheffers, Commission Treasurer Liam Sullivan, and Commission Secretary Lisa Reser.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

It was moved by Webb, seconded by Nicholson and the motion carried by voice vote with all votes cast in the affirmative.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Webb moved to approve the minutes for the Tuesday, August 6, 2024 meeting as presented. Bunge seconded the motion, and it was carried by voice vote with all votes cast in the affirmative.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

There were no comments from the public.

ACTION ITEMS

a. Placing the FY2025 PBC Budget on File for Public Inspection

Mr. Scheffers and Mr. Sullivan provided an overview of the budget recommendation for the PBC funds for FY2025.

It was moved by Shepard to place the FY2025 PBC Budget on file for public inspection. Nicholson seconded the motion and it was carried by voice vote with all votes cast in the affirmative.

OLD BUSINESS

a. Review of Ongoing County Maintenance Projects

1. Administration Building Restrooms

Mr. Hiland provided the Commission with an update on the Administration Building Restrooms project. The countertops, sinks and faucets have been installed in both bathrooms. Mr. Hiland noted the goal of completion and re-opening of the bathrooms is set for the end of September.

2. Liebert Climate Control Unit Installation

Mr. Scheffers reported that the installation of the 4-ton Liebert Server Room Climate Control Unit has begun and should take a week and couple days more to get the room back to normal.

3. Parking Lot Restriping

Mr. Hiland explained the completion process that took place yesterday for restriping the Sycamore Campus parking lot. Mr. Sullivan added that new signage is coming soon for the required ADA Standards parking spaces.

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Shepard inquired if DeKalb County adopted the new energy code in accordance with the State requirement. Mr. Hiland indicated the energy code was adopted earlier this year.

ADJOURNMENT

Nicholson moved to adjourn the meeting. Chair Swanson seconded the motion and it carried by voice vote with all votes cast in the affirmative.
