A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Genoa City Council in Illinois on October 15, 2024. The request was made by DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically sought detailed information about the council members. This included each member's name, title, year of appointment, term length (2 or 4 years), and term expiration date.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at DeKalb Times believe that access to such public records is crucial. It allows us to effectively gather and report news to the public while ensuring that local government bodies are held accountable for their actions.
In light of our role as a media organization disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request. We look forward to receiving a positive response from the Genoa City Council and will continue our efforts in promoting transparency in local governance.
