FOIA Request to City of Genoa Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have recently sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the City of Genoa. The request specifically asks for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid in the city.

The details requested include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due. This information is sought preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and analysis.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we believe that access to such records is essential. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities and deliver accurate news reports to our readers.

We also believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request. We await a response from the City of Genoa regarding this matter.

Our commitment remains firm in delivering reliable information about local government affairs. We will continue striving towards fostering accountability and transparency within our community through our journalistic endeavors.
