DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board Executive Committee met Oct. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Perry Maier, Meghan Cook, Marilyn Stromborg

Committee Members Not Present:

Staff Present: Deanna Cada

Other Persons Present:

1. Call to Order

Ms. Cook called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Agenda

Mr. Maier moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Dr. Stromborg. The motion passed unanimously.

3. Approval of Minutes

Dr. Stromborg moved to approve the minutes of the 09/03/24 meeting, seconded by Mr. Maier. The motion passed unanimously.

4. Office Report

• Ms. Cada shared that the SVVOR Recover-Con 2024 at NIU Barsema Hall is on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Ms. Cada will be attending in the morning. Ms. Cada will forward the flyer to Board Members.

• Ms. Cada shared that she attended a CIT Stakeholders meeting at the DeKalb Police Department, where information about the Police/Social Work program was shared. The meeting went well, and there was good information.

5. Public Comment

There was no public comment.

6. Old Business

A. Grant Year 2026 Application and Process - Ms. Cada discussed the changes recommended to the GY26 application. Mr. Maier shared the updates to the Quarterly Report form. Discussion ensued, and minor changes were recommended for the form.

7. New Business

A. Open Board Position-Board Member Sue Plote has resigned from the Mental Health Board. Discussion ensued on the proper procedure for recommending a new Board Member. The current policy does not follow practice, so it was recommended that it be updated to reflect current practice.

B. Executive Director & Administrative Assistant Performance Reviews -Ms. Cada reviewed the Executive Director Performance Review policy and timeline. Ms. Cada will complete the Administrative Assistant review and recommend compensation to the Board. Board members will receive the Executive Director Performance Review tool at the October Board meeting. They will have two weeks to complete the tool and return it to the Administrative Assistant by November 4, 2024. Ms. Cada reported that DeKalb County administration has designated a 2.75% increase for all non-union county employees. This can be considered as a guideline.

C. Coordinated Community Crisis Response Activities-Ms. Cada hosted a Zoom meeting with interested partner agencies to develop shared messaging around community crises and related issues. The agencies will review the MHB disaster response policy and reconvene to determine the next steps.

D. 2025 Meeting Dates - Shared for informational purposes.

8. One-Year/Three-Year Plan update -

A. Young Child Initiative - The next Ad Hoc Committee meeting is scheduled for November 20, 2024, but without Ms. Plote, there is no chair of the Committee. Ms. Cada will work on a response to the loss of Ms. Plote.

B. CEBiB Updates and Strategies - Ms. Cada shared that she spoke with Sheila Santos, IMCO Director, and they can change the CEBiB webpage. Ms. Cada is looking for a vendor for CEBiB T-shirts and other items. Mr. Maier recommended Health Merch.

C. Suicide Prevention/ Intervention - The Committee will be planning an event for 2025, an art show for students.

9. Date of Next Executive Committee Meeting: November 5, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.

10. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.

Dr. Stromborg moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Maier. The motion passed unanimously.
