Sandwich ranked 348th in state in lottery ticket sales for February 2016

The City of Sandwich had the 348th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- down 115 spots from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Sandwich was $21.83 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the DeKalb Times, Sandwich generated $160,829.50 in net sales from its 10 lottery retailers in February 2016, compared to $178,958.50 in February 2015.

The City of Sandwich is in DeKalb County, and has a population of 7,366, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Plano, Somonauk and Lake Holiday.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $17,996.59.

Sandwich's top lottery retailer is Shell Gas Station located at 110 N Main St, Sandwich, IL 60548.

Shell Gas Station generated 33 percent of Sandwich's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 4 percent of DeKalb County's sales that month, which was $1,313,751.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DeKalb County in 2015 were Shabbona, Somonauk, Kirkland, Sandwich and Sycamore.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
