Newly appointed Illinois state Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) took to social media to celebrate his recent post to two education committees in the general assembly.
“As a father of three public-school students, as a taxpayer and as a citizen concerned with being sure we provide world-class education to our communities, I’m excited for this opportunity,” he wrote on Facebook.
Keicher will serve on the state elementary and secondary education school curriculum and policies committee and the licensing, administration and oversight committee, which are responsible for K-12 education policy and oversight.
Keicher was already running for the 70th House District seat when he was appointed to replace Rep. Bob Pritchard (R-Hinckley), who resigned early to join the Northern Illinois University board. Keicher faces Democrat Paul Stoddard and Libertarian John Eldon Mathey in November's general election.
During his campaign to keep the House seat, Keicher stirred grassroots support with a recent campaign appearance at Hampshire High School joining other GOP House, Senate and judicial candidates.
Keicher’s campaign platform consists of job creation, tax reform and outmigration issues.
The 70th District includes Boone, DeKalb and Kane counties.
