Illinois State Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) recently took to the House floor to congratulate Northern Illinois University on its recent Outstanding Large Delegation Award at the 41st Annual Model Illinois Government Legislative Simulation competition held in Springfield during the week of Feb. 28.
"Team faculty advisor Dr. Scot Schraufnagel is to be congratulated along with the entire team from the Department of Political Science,” Keicher said in a video posted to Facebook. “As we’re all aware, teaching civics is critically important, perhaps now more than ever. These students have made NIU proud of their achievements."
A first-term lawmaker, Keicher defeated Democrat Paul Stoddard in the 70th District last November with nearly 52 percent of the vote.
