City of Sandwich Finance Committee met June 17.

Finance Chairwoman Killey called the meeting to order at 9:27 PM
Roll call was taken:
Present: Aldermen Dell & Killey; City Clerk Ii
Review of semi-monthly bills: Bills were reviewed to be submitted for payment approval at the Regular Meeting of June 24th, 2019.
New Business: Question was raised by the audience regarding an invoice to United Rental (North America) Inc. for a rubber discharge hose, plus shipping, in the amount of $921.38. Audience felt the hose should have been purchased outright, but upon realizing the cost to purchase was $2,806.25, the question was raised that there must a less expensive way to purchase. No action taken.
Question was raised on an invoice regarding the DeKalb County Treasurer for renewal of fiber optic. Clerk Ii explained that the fiber optic is unique to Dekalb County only, and is managed by NIU. The DeKalb County Treasurer distributes the consortium membership and services agreement to NIU.
Alderman Kreinbrink suggested that the finance committee meet at a different time other than following a Committee-of-the-Whole meeting. He emphasized that he generally had no issues with the finance committee but would like more time to review the bi-weekly invoices prior to the meeting. It was noted the reason the finance committee meets after the COW meeting was due to time constraints. None of the Committee members are available during the week to meet.
Old Business: The question on the monthly elevator invoice was again raised. Alderman Kreinbrink explained that he had checked with Otis, and they felt the price the City is currently paying is fair and reasonable. The current contract with Advanced Elevators renews itself for 3-year increments with the current contract ending in 2020.
Audience Comments: Audience members included Alderman Kreinbrink, Treasurer Webber, WSPY Jim Wyman, & resident Doug Grief.
Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Committee, motion made by Alderman Dell and seconded by Alderwoman Killey to adjourn the Finance Committee meeting at 9:52 PM. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
