MALTA TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY: Generational Malta Farm Families

Malta Township Public Library recenlty issued the following announcement.

Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM CDT

Driving through DeKalb County, farms are a constant part of the landscape. However, farming itself has experienced many changes over the past hundred years. The Malta Public Library, partnering with the DeKalb County History Center, will explore some of these stories as they relate to two farms in the northern part of DeKalb County.

The contributions of DeKalb County’s farming families have withstood the pressures of growth, changes in farming methods, drought, floods, and economic challenges to preserve these important pieces of our region’s commercial and cultural history. On July 16, two generational farmers – Tracey Jones and Jamie Willrett, will share their stories exploring when and why their families settled in DeKalb County and the changes that have taken place on their family farm over the years.

This talk will be held at the Malta Public Library on July 16 from 6:30 – 7:30. The Library is located at 203 Adams Street in Malta.
