City of Sandwich Finance Committee met August 5. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:

Finance Chairwoman Killey called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM


Roll call was taken:

      Present:            Aldermen Dell & Killey; City Clerk Ii

      Also Present:   Aldermen Chmielewski, Kreinbrink, Kelleher & Redden; Chief Bianchi; City Treasurer Webber; WSPY Reporter Jim Wyman

Approval of Minutes: Motion made by Alderman Dell, and seconded by Alderwoman Killey, approving minutes from July 1st & 15th, 2019. And Special Finance Meeting Minutes from July 1st & 22nd , 2019. Motion passed unanimously via voice vote.

Review of semi-monthly bills: Bills were reviewed to be submitted for payment approval at the Regular Meeting of August 12th, 2019.

New Business: Alderman Kreinbrink suggested annual PM’s (preventative maintenance) on equipment, including HVAC, to avoid numerous repairs after it was noted that two different companies were contracted for air conditioner repairs at the Opera House and the City’s sewer plant.

Audience Comments: WSPY reporter, Jim Wyman, questioned the $3,000 compensation payment to Brian Voelkel and Matt Schwickerath, and when did the Council approve payment. Alderman Dell explained that approval for the compensation will be via the Council’s approval for payment at the August 12th meeting. The compensation, via straw poll, is for coverage and extra duties incurred during the absence of a Sewer / Street Department Superintendent since December, 2018.

Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Committee, motion made by Alderwoman Killey and seconded by Alderman Dell to adjourn the Finance Committee meeting at 8:05 PM. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
