DeKalb County Board of Review met Jan. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Those in attendance: John Guio, Bob Merriman and Dan Gribben, Members; Michelle Christensen, Interim Clerk; Pauline Ruchti, Township Assessor; John Mataitis, Member of the Public; Scott Becker, attorney; and appellants.

I. Call to order: Meeting called to order at 9:02 am.

II. Roll call: All present.

Ill. Approval of minutes from last meeting: Bob made a motion to approve Jan 7, 2020 meeting minutes. Dan seconds the motion. All in favor, motion passed.

IV. Public Comments: Mr. Mataitis stated Board is violating State law as comparibles were thrown out on a previous hearing based on location to water or not and not allowing comparibles outside of appellants neighborhood as the law states you may.

V. Hearings

a. Non-Homestead - None

b. Board of Review - Board reviewed and made a decision on 8 appeals. See attached list. After such, Board broke for lunch at 11 :52 am.

c. PTAB - None

VI. Work Load: Board reconvened meeting at 12:30 pm.

a. Review to Approve/ Deny Disabled Person Exemptions: Board reviewed and approved 4 new and

4 renewal disabled person exemptions. See attached list.

b. Review to Approve/ Deny Disabled Veteran Exemptions: Board reviewed and approved 1 new and

2 renewal disabled veteran exemptions. See attached list.

c. Review to Approve / Deny Senior Exemptions: Board reviewed and approved 17 new senior exemptions. See attached list.

d. Review to for Recommendation for Non-Homestead Exemptions: Board reviewed and made a recommendation to the IDOR on 12 non-homestead exemption applications.

e. Review of and Prepare for PTAB Appeals: Board reviewed and prepared statement on 1 PTAB appeal received.

VII. Other Business: None.

VIII. Adjournment: Bob moved to adjourn; Dan seconded. All in favor, so moved. Meeting adjourned at 12:50 pm.
