DeKalb County Executive Committee met April 8.

The Executive Committee of the DeKalb County Board virtually met via Zoom. Chairman Mark Pietrowski, Jr. called the meeting to order at 7:43 p.m. Those Members virtually present via Zoom and/or by phone were Mr. Tim Bagby, Mrs. Laurie Emmer, Mr. Steve Faivre, Vice-Chairman John Frieders, Ms. Dianne Leifheit, Mr. Roy Plote, Mr. Chris Porterfield, Mr. Paul Stoddard, and Chairman Mark Pietrowski, Jr. A quorum was established with all nine Members present.
Others present included Gary Hanson, Derek Hiland, Nathan Schwartz, Pete Stefan, Greg Millburg, Scott Campbell, Rukisha Crawford, Karen Cribben, Tim Hughes, Maureen Little, Jim Luebke, Craig Roman, Linda Slabon, Larry West, Jeff Whelan, and Suzanne Willis.
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Mr. Porterfield moved to approve the agenda as presented. Mr. Plote seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously by voice vote.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
It was moved by Mrs. Emmer, seconded by Mr. Bagby and it was moved unanimously to approve the minutes from the March 11, 2020 Executive Committee Meeting.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
There were no public comments.
CHAIR’S COMMENTS
The Chairman announced that he and the Vice-Chair are holding a conference call series starting this Friday, April 10 at 12:00 p.m. to share general information and identify needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This format will start a weekly call series every Friday at noon with the same call-in number and pin. More information on the call series is available on the County’s Website. He also reminded the Board Members that they are welcome to call-in and listen to the call series but asked that they refrain from participating in the discussions in order to keep in compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act rules and regulations.
APPOINTMENTS
The following appointments were recommended for approval:
a. DeKalb County Board Member – District 5: Kiara Jones appointed immediately to fill the unexpired term of Sandra Polanco until November 30, 2020.
b. County Board Committee Assignments: Linda Slabon appointed immediately to move from the Health & Human Services Committee to the Finance Committee until November 30, 2020; Scott Campbell appointed immediately as Finance Committee Vice-Chair until November 30, 2020; Kiara Jones appointed immediately to the Economic Development Committee and the Health & Human Services Committee until November 30, 2020.
c. Farmland Assessments Review Board: Nicholas Moore reappointed for a three- year term beginning May 1, 2020 until April 30, 2023.
The Chairman shared that Ms. Jones would have her Oath of Office administered by the County Clerk virtually at the County Board Meeting being held via Zoom but then once the Board met again in-person, she would be provided an additional Oath of Office.
Mr. Porterfield moved to forward the recommended appointments to the full County Board for approval. Mr. Stoddard seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously by voice vote.
APPROVAL OF THE COUNTY BOARD AGENDA
It was moved by Mrs. Emmer, seconded by Vice-Chair Frieders and it was carried unanimously to approve the County Board Agenda and to forward it to the full County Board for approval.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Mr. Plote, seconded by Mrs. Emmer and it was carried unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:48 p.m.
