A new program, the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA), has been created to help provide business to Midwestern farmers.
"The Dairy Business Innovation Alliance is a newly announced program that will provide Midwestern dairy farmers and dairy-related businesses with financial and technical support," Illinois State Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Dist. 70) said in a release issued on Facebook. "This initiative, a joint effort coordinated by the Center for Dairy Research (CDR) and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA), was designed to support and promote the diversification and addition of value-added products to the Midwest dairy industry."
The program will help increase diversification on farms, create more value-added dairy products, and target product exporting opportunities.
Applications are currently being accepted and farmers can receive up to $20,000, Keicher said in a release issued on his website. The deadline to apply is Friday, Aug. 14; and if selected, farmers will be notified on Friday, Sept. 4.
More information on the program can be found at the Illinois Department of Agriculture website and the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance website.
