City of Sandwich Committee of the Whole met June 1.

Due to COVID-19, meeting was conducted via teleconference and open public meeting
Mayor Robinson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

City Clerk Ii reported that the annual IML (Illinois Municipal League) Conference to be held September 24-26, 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Director of Public Works / City Engineer Horak
Aboveground Storage Tank Removal: Engineer Horak explained his desire to have the AST (Aboveground Storage Tank) removed from the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The tank, encased in cement, has not been used once the City started sharing fuel with the school district. The tank is approximately 20 years old and nearing the end of its service life. Funding for the removal of the tank has been in the budget for two years. The City has received a proposal for removal of $14,000.00 from Chicago Tank Removal. Council felt there was no urgency in the removal of the tank at this time.
Hall Street Lift Station Building: At last week’s meeting, the Council delayed approving a proposal from A&B Exteriors citing more details were needed to compare with a second proposal received from Thomas Builders. Repairs on the building will be limited to siding only and excludes any roofing Engineer Horak will obtain additional information from the businesses and place this matter on next week’s agenda for a vote.

Aldermen Reports: Alderwoman Chmielewski noted that the IML will be hosting workshops and seminars next Spring 2021.
Announcements: The Finance Committee Meeting will meet immediately following the Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting.

Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Council, motion made by Alderman Redden and seconded by Alderman Robinson to adjourn the Committee-of-theWhole Council meeting at 7:13 PM. Motion carried unanimously by viva voce vote.
