Somonauk Fire Protection District responded to 35 calls in 2018 - 20.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Somonauk included nine fires - two structure fires, three vehicle fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $70,700 in fire loss - or about $7,856 per fire.

The department also received 26 false calls.

The Somonauk Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $952,723 in 2018.
