Dekalb Alderman Bill Finucane, who serves in Ward 2, will not seek a third term.

Finucane is the most senior member on the Dekalb City Council and told the Daily Chronicle he has had many of his constituents approach him to ask that he run again. However, he has chosen to instead focus on his personal life.

"Over the past month or so, a number of individuals have reached out to me, encouraging that I run for a third term,” Finucane said. "I certainly am appreciative of the comments and confidence towards me. I never planned on remaining on Council for an extraordinary long time.”

With three grandchildren born since he took office in 2013 and a number of other interests, Finucane said it was time to step aside and return his focus to his family.
