DeKalb County Forest Preserve District Board Met June 16.

The DeKalb County Forest Preserve District Commissioners met in regular session at the Legislative Center’s Gathertorium at 7:27 p.m. President Frieders called the meeting to order and the Secretary called the roll. Those Commissioners present were Mr. Patrick Deutsch, Mrs. Laurie Emmer, Mr. Steve Faivre, Mr. Tim Hughes, Mrs. Kathy Lampkins, Ms. Dianne Leifheit, Ms. Maureen Little, Mr. Jim Luebke, Mr. Neill Mohammad, Mr. Roy Plote, Mr. Craig Roman, Ms. Linda Slabon, Mr. Larry West, Mr. Tim Bagby, Mr. Scott Campbell, Ms. Mary Cozad, Mrs. Karen Cribben, Mr. Bill Cummings, and President John Frieders. Those absent were Ms. Kiara Jones, Ms. Terri Mann Lamb, Mr. Jerry Osland, Vice-President Suzanne Willis, and Ms. Rukisha Crawford. A quorum was established with nineteen Commissioners present and five absent.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Motion

Mrs. Emmer moved to approve the agenda as presented and Mr. Faivre seconded the motion. Voice Vote

President Frieders called for a voice vote to approve the agenda as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion

Ms. Slabon moved to approve the minutes of the May 19, 2021 meeting. Mr. Hughes seconded the motion. Voice Vote

President Frieders asked for a voice vote on the approval of minutes. All Commissioners voted yea. Motion carried unanimously.

COMMUNICATIONS & PROCLAMATIONS

None.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

There were no public comments.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

Claims – June 2021

Mr. Roman moved to approve the payment of claims for this month, and the off-cycle claims paid during the previous month, including all claims for travel, meals, and lodging, in the amount of $133,943.00. Mrs. Lampkins seconded the motion.

Roll Call Vote

President Frieders called for a roll call vote on the approval of the June Claims. Those Commissioners voting yea were Mr. Deutsch, Mrs. Emmer, Mr. Faivre, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Lampkins, Ms. Leifheit, Ms. Little, Mr. Luebke, Mr. Mohammad, Mr. Plote, Mr. Roman, Ms. Slabon, Mr. West, Mr. Bagby, Mr. Campbell, Ms. Cozad, Mrs. Cribben, Mr. Cummings, and President Frieders. The motion to approve the June Forest Preserve District Claims approved unanimously with all Commissioner present voting yea.

OLD BUSINESS / NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Roman briefly shared that the Forest Preserve Operations Committee does not meet in June. Their next meeting will be at the Chief Shabbona Forest Preserve in July. The Great Western Trail Extension is coming along into Sycamore and is anticipated to be completed in late summer. Mr. Roman also thanked the Highway Department and the Highway Committee for their partnership and work in paving the entrance to the Russel Woods Forest Preserve in Genoa.

Motion

Ms. Little moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:32 p.m. and Mr. Cummings seconded the motion.

Voice Vote

President Frieders called for a voice vote on the adjournment. Motion carried unanimously.
