Barb Food Mart Information

***There will be no school on Monday, January 17, 2022 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.***

Attention Barbs!  Course selection for the 2022-2023 school year is almost here!! Starting next week students will meet with counselors for grade specific presentations during PE. Freshman will meet on Tuesday, January 18th. Sophomores will meet on Wednesday, January 19th, and Juniors will meet on Thursday, January 20th. If you have a PE waiver plan to attend the presentation on Wednesday, January 19th during Flex in the Auditorium.

Attention Barbs!  In preparation for Course Selection for next school year, please consider attending the Level Up Fair on Friday, January 21st. This event will be held in the Commons during Flex. Student and teacher representatives from different departments will be available to answer questions and give their experiences in taking Honors, AP, Dual Credit and Advanced CTE Courses.  Please see the flyer as well.  

Attention Barbs: Any student who is interested in joining the Spanish Honor Society must complete the application for membership, upload three points' worth of artifacts and a screenshot of your transcript to our Canvas page no later than 3 p.m. on January 20, 2022. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Attention All Juniors OR Seniors:  If you have a 3.500 GPA and are not currently a member of the National Honor Society at DeKalb High School, please check your email on Monday, January 10th for a National Honor Society application letter.  This is coming to you from Mr.Rouse.  If you do not receive said email and believe you should have done so as you have a 3.500 GPA or Higher, please contact Mr.Rouse via email at prouse@d428.org OR stop by Room W211 with any questions or concerns. 

Attention All:  Please support the DHS Marching Barbs by eating at Panera (Dekalb location) on Wednesday, January 19th.  Panera will donate a percentage of the cost of your meal when you show the printed flier or a copy of the flier on your phone. The fundraiser runs all day (6 am -  9 pm).  Ordering options include: curbside, delivery, rapid pick-up or drive thru and take out/dine-in.  Use code PRFUND at check-out when ordering online. Attention All:  The DeKalb High School Music Department is pleased to share that the St. Olaf Choir will be holding their Winter Tour at NIU on Friday, February 11, 2022.  The details of the concert are as follows: 

The St. Olaf Choir, conducted by Anton Armstrong, will perform at Boutell Memorial Concert Hall at Northern Illinois University School of Music in DeKalb on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 7 p.m. during its 2022 winter tour.

For more than a century, the St. Olaf Choir has set the gold standard for choral singing, performing for millions around the world. Comprised of 75 mixed voices, the St. Olaf Choir is hailed as the nation’s premier a cappella ensemble, renowned for its artistry and beauty of sound. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. If you have issues purchasing tickets, please call 1-800-363-5487. Group discount of 10% available for groups of 10+ available via phone.

Attention All:  MTSS wishes all students a happy 2022, and we'd also like to remind you to show your Barb pride by being prepared and organized, showing respect, initiative and integrity, being diligent and determined, and striving for excellence in all areas of the school. We have exciting news to share!! In February, we will have a school-wide movie event. In order to receive an invitation, you have to have zero referrals, including tardy referrals, have no unexcused absences, and be passing all classes. Let's start the second semester strong!

If you are interested in participating in a SPRING sport this year,  it is time to register and make sure your sports physical is current! ALL sports registrations must be completed prior to the first day. Please visit the DHS Athletics website, 1barb.com, scroll down and click on the "Spring Sports Registration Open Now" link for all of the details, including coach contact information! Boys and Girls track and field will begin Tues., 1/18/22. Girls Badminton, Boys Baseball, Girls Softball, Girls Soccer, Boys Tennis will begin Mon., 2/28/22. DHS Parking Tag Request Form - Please complete this form to request a parking tag and either pay online through Skyward, or bring  cash or check (made payable to Dist #428) to the DHS main office. You must have a parking tag displayed in your vehicle at all times or risk being ticketed and or towed.
