The Autism Caregiver Group will be holding a fun safety event at the DeKalb Police Department on February 24.
Our School Resource Officers, Social Workers, and Commander Lekkas will be teaching families about how children with autism may interact with police at school, home, and in the community. NIU undergraduate student volunteers will be available to provide child-friendly activities with kids. Families will also be invited to take a tour of the police station and meet with officers.
The presentation will be in English; Spanish language supports will be available.
