Huskies Travel to Eastern Michigan for Tuesday Matchup

The Northern Illinois University men's basketball team continues its busy two-week stretch on Tuesday night, Feb. 22, when the Huskies travel to Eastern Michigan. Game time against the Eagles is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and will be available on ESPN3.

NIU returns to the road where the Huskies picked up a pair of victories last week, winning at Ball State on Tuesday (Feb. 15) before scoring a victory at Akron on Thursday (Feb. 17). The Huskies have won six road games this season, tied for the fourth-most in the Mid-American Conference.

Last time out against Miami, Trendon Hankerson (Novi, Mich./Novi) recorded four steals to give him 113 in his career, just four shy of cracking the NIU career top-10. This season, Hankerson is averaging 2.0 steals per game, second-best in the MAC and 38th nationally.

Kaleb Thornton (Bolingbrook, Ill./Iowa Western CC) had eight assists with zero turnovers on Saturday against the RedHawks. Thornton is third in the MAC in assists during league play at 4.7 per game and ranks sixth with a 1.69 assist/turnover ratio.

Keshawn Williams (Chicago Heights, Ill./Tulsa) scored in double figures for the 13th consecutive game against Miami. Williams is currently seventh in the MAC in scoring during conference play at 17.8 points per game. He also ranks in the top-15 in three-point percentage (fifth), free-throw percentage (sixth) and field goal percentage (15th).

The Eagles bring a 9-18 overall record, including a 4-12 mark in conference play, into Tuesday's contest. Eastern Michigan is coming off a 67-48 setback against Akron on Saturday (Feb. 19). Eastern Michigan has three players scoring in double figures, led by 15.9 points per game from Noah Farrakhan. Bryce McBride adds 11.6 points per contest while Monty Scott chips in 10.5 points per game.  

Following Tuesday's contest, NIU will return home to host Buffalo in a makeup contest on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. The Buffalo game is a rescheduled contest from Jan. 4, tickets for the original date will be honored at Thursday's game.
