DeKalb County Emergency Telephone System Board met May 4.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Leverton called the meeting to order at 3:00pm.
a. Board Members Present:
Bomar, Byrd, Johnson, Polarek, Thomas, Willis, and Leverton.
b. Board Members Absent:
Bianchi, McAllister and Plote
c. Guests Present:
Sean Woyna, DeKalb Police Dept.
d. Also Present:
Becky Springer, DeKalb County Treasurer and Heather Butler, 9-1-1 Coordinator.
2. Agenda
a. Chairman Leverton asked for any amendments to the agenda. A motion was made by Polarek and seconded by Johnson to approve the agenda. The motion passed.
3. General Meeting Minutes:
a. A motion to approve the minutes of the April 6th, 2022 meeting was made by Thomas and seconded by Byrd. The motion passed.
4. Public Comment- None
5. Treasurer’s Report
a. Monthly Treasurer’s Report
i. April report presented and discussed. A motion to approve the April 2022 monthly report was made by Polarek and seconded by Byrd. Motion passed.

A motion to pay the May bills was made by Byrd and seconded by Bomar. A roll call vote was taken; Bomar – Y, Johnson – Y, Willis – Y, Thomas – Y, Polarek – Y, Byrd – Y, Leverton – Y. Motion passed.
6. Radio Report
a. Lt Bomar advised, no update, still waiting on equipment, no date for arrival or install.
7. Grant Status -
a. Butler advised the 3rd quarter report for our NG grant has been filed.
b. No update on the FY23 Consolidation grant applied for.
c. We were awarded an INENA training grant for a class in September we will be hosting.
8. NG911 Update –
a. Butler advised the date has shifted to June due to connection issues and Frontier requiring a 30-day notification.
b. NINGA has filed letters with carriers and the FCC for text to 9-1-1. Training for dispatchers will be scheduled for this fall.
9. Legislation –
a. Butler advised as many know there was language put into HB4700 which is now PA 102- 0699 sweeping 5 million from our 9-1-1 funds for 988. NENA, APCO, and ISP are working hard to determining what can be done to stop the transfer from happening. Letters on behalf of the board were sent to all our legislators.
b. CESSA – not much to update, statewide group which is not official yet but still working together advised they presented to medical directors this last week on protocols.
c. SB3127 – reclassification for TC’s, passed both houses, has not been sent to governor yet. FCC is also pushing for reclassification.
10. Participating Agency Request- None
11. Coordinator’s Report –
a. Butler advised the public education for 9-1-1 education month went well. Reached over 900 students and kids loved the simulator.
b. We are scheduling 2 additional old radio sites to be removed this month.
c. Butler also advised she will be on vacation next week.

14. ADJOURNMENT- Polarek moved to adjourn the meeting and the motion was seconded by Byrd. The meeting adjourned at 3:18pm.
