Illinois state Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) recently shared his experience helping the fire district make doughnuts at the Boone County Fair.
The senator recounted his experience and shared photos in an Aug. 19 Facebook post.
"'Time to Make the Donuts' Last week. Dave had the privilege of assisting the Boone County Fire Protection District #2 in making donuts at the Boone County Fair….he even tried a few for quality control…. The volunteer firefighters were expected to sell 85,000 donuts during the fair week," the senator said.
According to the organization's Facebook page, the Boone County Fair ran from Aug. 8 to 14.
Attractions at the event included a carnival, live music and entertainment, a demolition derby, an antique tractor display, and a variety of vendors, among other attractions.
Syverson may not be in Springfield for session, but people are still taking notice of his efforts. In June, according to DeKalb Times, he was named a Champion of Free Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
