Charli Atiemo (Milford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Atiemo led the Huskies' (9-3, 2-0 MAC) offensive onslaught versus Akron (3-10,0-2 MAC) this past weekend as the squad dispatched the Zips in straight sets in back-to-back matches. The middle blocker led NIU with 23 kills (3.83/set) through the two matches.
In Friday's match, the middle blocker helped NIU log its highest hitting percentage since 2016 (.402) as she hit .588, a season high, on 17 swings to pace all players.
On Saturday, Atiemo posted another plus .500 hitting percentage and racked up 12 kills to tie her season high. She's now hitting .363 on the season which is fifth-best in the conference.
NIU turns its attention to Western Michigan as they host the Broncos (10-4,2-0 MAC) Tuesday night at Victor E. Court. First serve is set for 6 p.m. while the match will broadcast live on ESPN+.
