Becky Springer, DeKalb County Treasurer, reports that the final distribution of DeKalb County real estate tax money was recently made. This year the Treasurer’s Office collected and distributed $237,828,518.80 in tax monies to DeKalb County taxing bodies. The final distribution also included $184,259.47 in interest that was earned by the Treasurer’s Office for the benefit of the taxing bodies while the funds were in the Treasurer’s custody. The interest distrusted is a 2,698% increase over the interest distributed last year. “The increase in interest is due to our continuous efforts to work with local banks and build strong relationships,” said Springer.
Taxpayers also took advantage of the opportunity to pay their taxes online. “This year more than $28.4 million in taxes were paid online. this has been our most successful year yet for this program,” said Springer.
