Oversized Vehicle Restrictions Taking Effect | https://www.cityofdekalb.com/ImageRepository/Document?documentID=1688
Beginning February 27, 2023, at 12:01 A.M. the City of DeKalb will prohibit oversized vehicles from traveling on specific roads. The restriction shall remain in effect until further notice.
Current weather conditions contribute to a phenomenon known as the “spring freeze/thaw cycle.” Warm temperatures thaw frozen water settled in the soil beneath roads. The unsettling creates a weakened subsurface easily susceptible to damage from oversized vehicles traveling over the road pavement.
Vehicles prohibited from traveling on posted roads include:
- Single axle vehicles exceeding 8,000 lbs. per axle
- Tandem axle vehicles exceeding 11,000 lbs. per axle with a gross weight of 33,000 lbs. or more
